We love to learn and review new games! If you want us to feature your game, please consider our guidelines:

What do we review?

Every reviewer has their own style and audience, and we want to make sure we’re a good match for your game!

  • Our primary format is an in-depth written review on our website that is best suited for medium- to heavy-weight games that have a ton of strategy and make your brain hurt.
  • We will review lighter or quicker games, but may work with you to take a different approach than the long written format (see below)
  • We aim to feature at least one kid’s game per month and focus on games Rowan can (at least kind of) play. With guidance, we find he can usually enjoy games aimed at 4-5+ years. Sully can’t play games yet, but he is really good at staring intensely while we play games, maybe making weird pterodactyl noises for ambiance.
  • 2-player games are our focus, but we will do 4-player if your game is a good fit! Be aware it might impact lead time (gaming in the time of COVID)
  • We do not currently review early-stage prototypes (almost-finished Kickstarter prototypes are OK)

How do we review?

  • In-depth written reviews: perfect for medium- and heavy-weight games with a lot of complex strategy. We make every effort to be fair and objective and will point out both the positives and (constructive) negatives.
    • We also recognize that our opinions may not be universal, and will make every effort to provide plenty of objective information alongside our personal opinions. Check out some examples to get a feel for the format and our style.
  • Other formats: the in-depth written review format isn’t perfect for every game! It could be a better fit for “Top X” lists, social media blasts, “If you liked X, try X”, etc.
  • Video: We are planning to launch short video reviews in the coming months. Stay tuned.

Sounds good? What we need from you:

  • A live boardgame geek page
  • A physical copy of your game (if we don’t already own it – check with us!). We will review Kickstarter preview prototypes as long as it is 80% of the way to finalization (rules and mechanics MUST be finalized, but if the art/components are still being tweaked that’s OK, we can be objective!).
  • We always play a new game at least 3 times before reviewing to make sure we have a good feel for it
  • Typically we will need 4 weeks for 2-players. For games where it’s important that we play 4 player as well we’ll need 6-8 weeks. We keep our content calendar relatively flexible, so if there’s a specific date you are aiming for, let us know and we’ll see what we can do!
  • For Kickstarter previews, let us know in advance your preferences for sharing plays, teasers, etc on social media prior to the review release.
Note: We always strive to stay as objective and honest as possible. Sending us a copy of your game does not guarantee a positive review.

What next?

Please note: We will not be using our platform to promote games with historical whitewashing/exclusion, colonialism (in general, we haven’t seen this done without whitewashing), racist stereotypes, overtly graphic depictions of violence, overly sexualized/graphic art, or any type of discriminatory content (disability, physical/mental health, socioeconomic status, etc).
