Roll-and-Write

Usually a light, quick game based heavily on luck, roll-and-writes involve dice and a sheet of paper with scoring parameters. Typically players roll a certain number of die and, based on the outcome, make a mark or score on their scoresheet.

  • Examples: the most famous example is Yahtzee, which was part of many people’s Forced Family Fun nights growing up over the last several decades. That’s Pretty Clever is a modern roll-and-write game similar to Yahtzee but adding a lot of depth and complexity.
